Bands

We are delighted to showcase excellent entertainment again this year.

The Metafours – Approximate stage time: 5:00 - 5:45 pm

The Metafours are an eclectic folk ensemble from Frankfort, Kentucky.  Anna Hess on violin, Nicholas Holmes and Jeri Katherine Howell on guitar and vocals, and Nat Colten on banjo, cello, guitar, and vocals.  The Metafours’ original music draws on influences as diverse as folk, bluegrass, classical, and popular traditions.  They are not easily categorized but may be best described as the anti-frontman band.  All members contribute to the creative process and share the spotlight equally, creating a harmonic and soulful musical experience.

The Sisters
The Sisters - Approximate stage time: 7:45 pm

The Sisters, based in Wheretheheck, Kentucky, regularly open for such bands as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Page 13.  Their highly unusual style of playing Tasmanian gourd fruit has earned them worldwide recognition but not necessarily mainstream acceptance, partially due to their exceptionally cryptic lyrics inspired by Jungian sleepwaking.

Just kidding - the band will have their actual bio here soon!!

We have lots of special activities

Pony rides and a petting zoo will be at the festival this year!  Look for Rosie and her ponies in the shade near the creek (please cross the road carefully!).  Pony rides are $3.  The petting zoo is free; you can buy treats to feed the animals for $.50.

Walk/Bike Frankfort will have a bike equipped with a blender at the festival.  For fifty cents you can take a twirl on the bike and then stick around for a taste of the smoothie that you helped make with your own energy!  This activity will take place in the lower festival area.

Melanie VanHouten and the great folks at Josephine Sculpture Park will have a tent with children’s activities.  Take advantage of the opportunity to create your own mold in preparation for the hot metal pour at JSP’s Fall Festival on September 15!

An obstacle course created by Frankfort High Earth Club will begin at 4:45pm in the lower festival area and provide physical challenges and fun competition for all ages.

A basketball shot and football throw competition in the upper festival area/gym will give you a chance to see how your skills rate!

A children’s parade will begin in lower festival area at 6:45pm and lead to the stage in time for the Raffle Drawing and Awards Presentation.  Kids love this parade!

Don’t miss Flight of the Dandelion!  This interactive play featuring Andy McDonald, Katie McCoun and Melissa Calhoun will invite kids to play while learning about the life cycle of plants.  This fun event will take place in the lower festival area at 6:30 pm just prior to the Children’s Parade.

The Music Festival is run entirely by volunteers with the help of donations from our sponsors.  Visit our booth at the festival, buy a T-shirt, and learn more about our forest advocacy. We would be thrilled to have you as new members!
