Just wanted to send out a short update.  Michael called today from above Hot Springs, NC.  He is doing great.  He was lying beside a stream looking at the blue sky.  He said they have met some great people.

Branden was a little behind him.  He was walking with a man and his daughter that are from New Hampshire.  Michael hopes I get to meet them this week.

Michael said they could easily have walked into town today.  They have walked 274 miles, averaging 13 miles per day.  Amy and I are meeting them there tomorrow.  Our friends from Georgia, John and Chandra, are also meeting us there.  The guys may already be there.  I am looking forward to seeing them and excited about our big hike.  Wish me luck.  I will send out a big update when I return in a week.  I hope we have good weather.

Take care,

Sheila Wee

Bath County, Kentucky resident, Michael Campbell, is hiking the entire Appalachian Trail to raise funds for the not-for-profit group dedicated to protecting Kentucky’s native forests, Kentucky Heartwood. Michael, a long-time member of Kentucky Heartwood, began his hike on March 22 at Springer Mountain, Georgia. By the first of September, after covering 2,181 miles of trail by foot, Michael will reach Katadhin Mountain in Maine and complete the entire trail.
