Hemlock volunteer days

April 28th and 30th
10am to ~3pm
3738 Buren Turner Rd., Somerset, KY 42501
Please see registration form for more details
Come out for a fun-filled and educational day in the forest! Join Kentucky Heartwood, the Office of KY Nature Preserves, and the Kentucky Division of Forestry to learn about the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, the invasive insect that is killing hemlock trees. We will be applying pesticide to trees in a gorgeous location along the Rockcastle River. Volunteers will be helping to measure and record trees and will not be working with the chemicals. Volunteers must be comfortable hiking off trail in the woods with steep inclines. You will be exposed to ticks and will need to take the proper precautions. Cell Reception is limited to none.

If you can't make the designated KY Heartwood Days, that is OK! This volunteer opportunity will be happening all week - please email Alexandra.blevins@ky.gov to register for other days of the week NOT listed here.

If you'd like to inquire about the trip before registering, please email kentuckyheartwood@gmail.com with questions.
