Restoration, Resiliency, and Regeneration Follies
in the Central Hardwood Region

Davis Mounger
Co-chair, Tennessee Heartwood

Thursday, April 15, 2021
7PM
via ZOOM and Facebook Live

Davis  Mounger has spent years documenting and educating the public about three buzzwords that we hear often in forest management: restoration, resiliency, and regeneration. The three R's! These terms sound perfectly acceptable to the public as reasonable and productive management tools. However, the Forest Service has co-opted these words to re-package their timber program to appear biologically beneficial when really it's an ecological and economical loss.

What are we seeing on the ground?

Davis will help the public understand the actual definitions of the three R's, how federal agencies use the terminology to justify destructive logging, and give examples of how bad restoration and clear cuts actually change forest composition and  leave coppiced stumps and invasive species.

What does it really take to restore our forests?
